Circular Squares

Modern Building, Coconut Grove, Florida, USA
We spied this cool building in Miami's Coconut Grove neighborhood.  It's Mid-Century Modern meets generic 70's.  This is basically a set of three connecting squares dressed up with circles.

Appalachian Glow

Sunset, Highlands, North Carolina, USA
This time of year always draws us to the mountains.  For some reason, cold weather invites us to the quiet mountain wildernesses.  Mountains are beautiful all year, but fall brings the sound of crunchy leaves under our feet, the sight of cold mist in the air, and the smell of fireplaces to the leafless mountains.

Flying Zoo

Frontier Airlines Aircraft, Denver, Colorado
Based at Denver International Airport (DEN), Frontier Airlines has a fleet of aircraft decorated with various wild animals. Whenever we fly Frontier, we're eager to see "who" we're flying. If you're in Denver, a quick trip over the bridge between the main terminal and Concourse A is always a welcome diversion for plane-spotting!

Twists and Turns

Interstate Highway Interchange, Atlanta, Georgia, USA
This highway interchange, with its multi-leveled twists and turns, is the southwest connection of Interstates 85 and 285,
the Atlanta Bypass. The Perimeter, as I-285 is also known, is a major structure both physically and psychologically for metro Atlanta.

This particular interchange is nameless, and is thus less well known than the northern Perimeter intersections with I-85 and I-75. However, unlike the northern interchanges, this interchange demarcates the transition from urban to rural Georgia.

Holiday Traditions

Barbecued Chicken, Atlanta, Georgia, USA
Americans love to grill out during the summer, especially on holidays. As today is July 4th, America's Independence Day, here's a picture of Marc grilling up some chicken during a prior Independence Day holiday weekend. Note his red, white, and blue attire!

No Monkeying Around

Appetizers, Kfar Saba, Israel
This cornucopia of monkey dishes shows how serious this restaurant is about pleasing guests. The fourteen condiments and appetizers shown do not even account for all of the complimentary food served before our main meal (kabobs of meat) arrived. We're not sure if the Achla restaurant is still in business, but we can report that every one of these dishes (and our main course) were delicious!

International Travelers

Marc and Ned, Atlanta, Georgia, USA
Sometimes we see something goofy which is too cool to pass up. This Delta sign was laying on the ground just outside Atlanta Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport (ATL). If we weren't honest, we could have easily have stuck it in our friends' SUV and kept it as a special souvenir. Instead, we just grabbed it, got a picture with it, and put it back down where we found it. Even though we didn't get to keep the sign, we enjoyed getting this goofy picture with it!

Hoo Are You?

Owl, Highlands, North Carolina, USA
This little fellow was just hanging out on a branch near Highlands. To get this shot, we used our built-in zoom lens because he was high up and so as not to scare the fellow off.

Wishing for Rain

El Al 767, Miami International Airport (MIA), Miami, Florida, USA
This El Al Israel Airlines Boeing 767 is likely eager for some rain, a rare occurrence in its homeland. On many afternoons in Miami, clouds form from a blue sky, torrential rain comes down, and the sunshine returns; often within an hour or two. While we were taxiing by, these clouds were way in the distance and allowed sunlight to shine on this beautiful jet.

The flight from Miami to Israel is a long trip of over 10,000 kilometers. In fact, this aircraft may have been readying for one of the many (now discontinued) non-stop flights from Miami.

A Llovely Pair

Llamas, Northeast Georgia, USA
These cute fellows were hanging out at a farm with sheep and some other friendly animals. Naturally, we had to get out of the car and visit with them.

Night Sky

Night Sky, Highlands, North Carolina, USA
The colors of the sky are a marvel of nature. The sky, the full moon, the windswept trees, and the fading mountains made this a beautiful dusk.
