Chimney Caps, Barcelona, Catalonia, SpainThese odd looking faces are decorative chimney caps designed by famed Modernist architect Antoni Gaudí. Found atop Casa Milà (also known as La Pedrera), these fellows functionally do nothing more than disperse smoke. However, as Barcelona and Gaudí are inextricably linked, these little fellows are now famous as a testimony to Gaudí's unique visions for Barcelona and architecture.
Mediterranean Sea Rocks, Barcelona, Catalonia, SpainThese beautiful rocks were discovered on our first visit to the Mediterranean. It was a cold and windy December day in Barcelona, so we were neither dressed for nor planning to swim. Although swimming was out of the question, these beautiful sea rocks gave us plenty to enjoy at the beach. We remember studying this collection of stones, sea glass, pebbles, and pottery fragments and wondering where each came from and how long each had been at sea. Such pondering about new places, people, and experiences are what travel is all about!
